Home Page / Mechanical flood

A mechanical seal is a type of mechanical seal used to prevent fluid (liquid or gas) leakage in equipment such as pumps, compressors, mixers, and industrial agitators.

Unlike the simpler O-ring and felt seals, mechanical seals have a more complex design and can perform reliably and long-term under high pressures, high temperatures, and harsh operating conditions.

Mechanical Seal Applications

  • Oil, gas and petrochemical industries (pumps for transporting corrosive and hydrocarbon fluids)
  • Food and pharmaceutical industries (sanitary and sterile pumps)
  • Water and wastewater industries (centrifugal pumps, sludge pumps)
  • Power plants and chemical industries (high temperature and pressure pumps)
  • Compressors and industrial mixers

Advantages of mechanical seals over traditional sealing

  • Significant reduction in fluid leakage
  • Increase in equipment efficiency and life span
  • Reduce repair costs and production downtime
  • Ability to operate at high pressure and temperature
  • Greater safety in toxic or flammable fluids

Mechanical seals are among the most important sealing equipment in industries. Choosing the right type (single spring, multi-spring, double, cartridge or bellows) and material compatible with the fluid can play an important role in increasing the pump's life span and reducing maintenance costs.
